CHALLENGING CASES
An average of 10% of our adoption cases have been challenging placements. These placements
tend to be babies that have medical challenges, or ones that are bi-racial. We strongly believe
that every baby brought to us, regardless of challenge, deserves our full efforts to place them
in a loving home. In 2001 we faced a four-fold increase in special needs adoptions. We consider
the completion of our challenging placements one of the hallmarks of our 14-years in operation.
Some examples of successful placements include:
- Two baby boys born to birth mothers who used drugs and alcohol
- A baby boy born with Retinoblastoma (blindness)
- Two premature babies born with severe medical complications
- Four African American infants
- 12 bi-racial infants
- A baby girl born with Angelman’s Syndrome (severe retardation)
- Two babies born with Down Syndrome
